The Nepal Insurance Authority (NIA), in collaboration with the Asian Forum of Insurance Regulators (AFIR), the Financial Stability Institute (FSI) of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), and the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS), organizes the 19th AFIR annual meeting conference (AMC) and 7th Asia-Pacific High-Level Meeting on Insurance Supervision (HLM). The conference is expected to be attended by AFIR members, Asian insurance regulators, insurance training institutions and research centers, and other relevant senior officials from Asia and other parts of the world.

This year's HLM will have three sessions on various relevant topics that cover :

  • Regional insurance regulatory reforms – building a future-proof risk-based solvency approach;
  • The role insurance regulators can play in closing the insurance protection gap; and
  • Regulatory perpectives on financial innovation , including the development of artifical intelligence in the insurance industry;

The theme of the 19th AFIR Annual Meeting & Conference (AMC) has been announced as “Safeguarding Tomorrow: Unifying Efforts to Bridge the Protection Gap and Climate Risk.” A variety of stakeholders, including Asian insurance regulators, ADB, A2ii, GAIP, and OECD, will engage in discussions focusing on the important issues stemming from recent global impacts due to climatic changes and the protection gap problems encountered by Asian insurance regulators.

The conference will provide a unique opportunity to network with participants from across the region, live panel discussions, and dynamic exchanges of views among regulators and policymakers of the region and the practitioners, knowledge exchange opportunities with regional counterparts, building future partnerships, and a masterpiece collection of best international trainers and speakers.

The conference is therefore a must-attend Event for the regional insurance regulators and practitioners who are not only interested in expanding their footprints but also look forward to more relevant regional solutions for their local problems.
